Old Al is currently having solar panels installed on his main residence in TN, months after the bad publicity hit about his energy usage.
My thoughts are this on the whole global warming debate - It has not been proven that humans have any impact on the temperature. In fact there has been more scientists that have come out and said that we have NO impact and that any temperature increases are part of natural warming and cooling periods that the earth goes through.
Should we strive to clean up the environment, recycle more and waste less? Of course! For many reasons, not the least of which all the problems dirty air and polluted water cause.
I concur..scientists have found the polar ice caps on Mars are melting, so are we the cause of that, too? Large grants await any scientist willing to go along with the dumb masses and point the blame at us evil humans for the subtle rise in temperature on this planet. Recycling costs us far more and uses more energy than would have otherwise been used to manufacture new products, but don't tell a tree hugging hippie that, or they'll take away your razor, give you a granola bar, and make you use one square of toilet paper each time you go potty. No thank you.
Oh, Mand - you found a copy of my new house rules. Thanks for posting them!
You forgot the one about no heat in the winter. Until I can afford to install geothermal heating y'all can pick which dog you want to sleep with when you visit - either one is pretty warm and if we have a big crowd I can always borrow extra Greyhounds from the adoption kennel.
Call me a hippie if you like but whether we are causing global warming or not people in general and U.S. citizens in particular are wasteful and spoiled - myself included on some counts. I try, where it's not ridiculously inconvenient, to be green. I would like to be better about it.
Sis - I'll agree with you to a point. I think Gore is hippocrit, but you can't come out of Cali with out at least a few hippie tendencies. I hate how so much we as a society waste, and I'm all for clean air and water but how about I just bring an extra blanket instead? I'm not a big fan of dog breath.
Mommie, I don't like your new house rules :( I believe in not being wasteful, after all it's in the bible somewhere I'm sure, but using more resources to be "green" than you would have used to just do things regularly doesn't make much sense. Explain why we use so much extra fuel to make ethanol from corn than if we had just used that fuel for...FUEL! Duh, call me dumb, I just don't get it.

But I like granola bars! I don't think Gary would be happy if I stopped shaving though. Hairy armpits are G-R-O-S-S.
Granola is just a metaphor for all things hippie. And shaving is good, at least until I can afford laser hair removal.
