Finally: the dose of reality that mommy has not been waiting for.
Somehow I've been in denial despite the fact that both my kids are married, one is in the Army in freaking Iraq and parents three kids and the other is 25 and moved five hours from home.
Buying a house somehow makes it official: you're a grownup.
If it makes you feel any better, it's no fun to be a grownup.
CONGRATULATIONS!!! Believe it or not he easy part is over - here comes the "fun" part. Between now and closing expect to fax over documents to the loan officer that you've already given them or they didn't tell you you need as well letters of explanations and paid receipts of any "past due" bills that suddenly show up on your credit report and all kinds of other jazz. Then transferring all utilities, and the back breaking task of moving. But it's for a HOUSE. And if you want to put a Mr. Turtle sand box in your yard or work on your car in the driveway or you can.
Well, yes - it's sometimes not fun to be a grownup.
Amazing that after fighting your parents to do what you want while you're growing up, when you finally get to make your own choices you find that it comes with so much additional responsibility and consequence that yeah, it can be a struggle.
Life is always going to be full of tough times and sweet times. I think it balances out unless you are one to keep making bad choices. You never get to a point where everything is perfect and stays that way, but it's okay. You just gotta keep the big picture in mind and know that the difficult things that happen in life (money struggles, red tape, job insanity, educational load, relationship woes - whatever) are temporary.
