Our Newest Family Member

Her name is Sheba. I have no idea what breed(s?) she is or much else since she was a stray found by one of my co worker's son. She's super cute, extremely hyper, and a bit on the destructive side. Yep, she'll fit right in!

Oh, cute Cute CUTE!

Puppies are going to chew up whatever they can get at for a while. Best to treat them like the toddlers they are and "childproof" the house to limit what they can get at. Consider a dog crate when you can't directly supervise her.

If she does do anything naughty, correct her with a couple of stern words if you catch her in the act. Don't bother if it's after the fact - she won't know what the hell you're talking about and, if you do it a lot, may begin to fear you because the harsh words seem to have no cause.

Do anything and everything you can to wear her out so she won't have as much energy to terrorize the house.

Dogs are extra work but IMO are worth every bit of it. Congratulations!

Thanks Sis. Any advice is well appreciated. You ain't kidding about the chewing! Her favorite is socks and shoes. I do plan getting her a crate after I recover from whatever it's going to cost for the spaying, shots, etc. I think Daniel is her favorite 'cause he's a spaz too. After an afternoon of running around with him she crashed in the corner of the living room for a couple of hours. Now I'm off to Petsmart to get chew toys and puppy pee pads. Even though I made sure she did her business before I went to bed, Sheba thanked me by leaving three landmines on the basement floor. It could be worse though, I could be cleaning up after a great dane.

Thanks Mandy. The family who first rescued her named her and we couldn't agree on anything better so it stuck. Even after a trip to the Vet yesterday we still don't know what type of dog she is, but it don't matter much anyway since I have absolutely no plans to breed her.

Also, it's good that she and Daniel are able to be spazzy together. He'll have a friend that won't take his bike or piggy-bank money...

It'll be just like those "A Boy and his Dog" stories!

Maybe Daniel can teach Sheba to play frisbee like Aunt Janet's dogs...
