Happy Birthday Jonna!

Okay, I know I'm not the first cuz Amanda and Adrian (you A's always have to be first!) beat me to it with their comments on your last post, but nonetheless, I hope you have a great day today.

Luis should get you a beautiful cake and the children should not fight or otherwise cause injury or harm all day. You deserve it.

I remember the day you were born. Libby was scurrying around, putting Mom's suitcase in the living room and telling Dad "Don, she's ready! Hurry!"

Thankyou. My sister in law is bringing the cake. Yesterday we had a prayer session , as Hurricane Rita is about to hit-right in the path of her sister's house in Houston. Her sister had to be evacuated.Since then I heard that the storm might be downgraded to a three or four. So we are waiting and watching tonite as well as celebrating.Keep her in your prayers,
Jonna. PS- I want to start a list with everyone's birthdays because I keep forgetting.

Happy Birthday Sis! She's bringing chocolate, right? You know you deserve nothing less.
And continuing this day in history (Sorry Teresa, you got me started, now I'm hooked):

1846 Eighth planet discovered

German astronomer Johann Gottfried Galle discovers the planet Neptune at the Berlin Observatory.

1897 Death Calls On The Automobilist

Nine-year-old Stephen Kempton died on this day, becoming the first recorded traffic fatality in Great Britain. Kempton had been trying to steal a ride from a taxi by hanging on to a spring, but lost his grip and was trapped underneath the wheel of the vehicle. The tragedy occurred on Stockmar Road near Hackney, a full two years before America's first traffic fatality.

1875 Billy the Kid is arrested for the first time

On this day in 1875, 15-year-old Billy the Kid is arrested for the first time.

An older acquaintance of Billy's had stolen a bag of clothes from a Chinese laundryman as a joke and convinced the always affable Billy to hide it for him. When Billy was literally caught holding the bag, a Silver City policeman threw him in the local jail to teach him a lesson. Languishing in a cramped cell for this petty offense, Billy discovered a deep-seated terror of confinement. After enduring his imprisonment for two days, he took advantage of his diminutive frame to worm his way up a chimney and escape. From that day forward Billy would be on the wrong side of the law, though he would soon be guilty of crimes far more serious than hiding a stolen bag of laundry.

1961 Saturday Night at the Movies debuts

Weekly TV movie program Saturday Night at the Movies debuts on NBC, starting with the 1953 film How to Marry a Millionaire. The program was the first major network initiative to broadcast recent movies on the air. Although movies from the 1930s and '40s had appeared on TV, the networks had resisted showing more recent films. Until the 1960s, a fierce rivalry existed between the television and movie industries, and neither wanted to promote the other. However, with the success of Saturday Night at the Movies, relatively recent films became a staple of TV programming.

And also sharing this fine birthday with you are:

63 BC Augustus Caesar, first Roman Emperor.
1838 Victoria Chaflin Woodhull, the first woman presidential candidate (1872) in the United States.
1865 Emmuska Orczy, baroness and author of The Scarlet Pimpernel.
1926 John Coltrane, influential jazz saxaphonist.
1930 Ray Charles, rhythm 'n' blues piano player and singer
