LAUSD Bites
I found out a little more about Crenshaw High Schools loss of accreditation, but nothing specific on their plans for improvements. Their accreditation is temporarily re-instated until a hearing in February 2006. They have fired the principle and four of the five assistant principles. The head honcho at LA Unified School District is just saying that they will make improvements (what improvments is what I'd like to know) and are confident it will be reinstated. This is just one more reason why I'm glad Torrance is not part of LAUSD.

Yeah...LAUSD actually IMPROVING Crenshaw is like me converting to Christianity...

I'm gonna sign up for classes at LACC (Los Angeles City College)...they have a good film/media class...
I'm sure they'll improve some what, if only because of the media scrutiny. At least firing the principals is a good start. The question is, will it be enough? You have an inner city high school where much of the students and parents don't really give a rats a** about their education. Throw in a handfull of disenfranchised teachers who have tenure and that you can't get rid of and there you have it - Crenshaw High School!
Any one remotely connected with the school knows it sucks, but I still have not found out exactly what they orignaly lost their accreditation for in the first place, other than they did not make suggested improvements. The school is not forthcoming in their answers. I've been searching through a couple of newspaper archives trying and found a part of the original article. I'll just have to get over my cheapness and pay the 4 bucks for the full story. What the the heck, I pay $4.10 for a large Mocha at Starbucks. I'll get over it.

don't go to a cc! you should join the army, instead. we currently have 9 different jobs that are media-related. we also have 100% tuition assistance while you're enlisted and over $35,000 for college when you get out. there's never been a better day to go army!
The college benefits and training are good no doubt, but Jazzmin makign it through boot camp? Following orders without question?! I think she'd either be in so much trouble she would be marching and doing pushups until she keeled over from a heart attack, or end up on permanent lock down. I think she'd make a good drill sergeant though.
Oh, hell yeah. She would make a good (i.e., MERCILESS) DS but she'd have to do way more PT than the Jazzmin I know would ever put up with.
Still, if she could suck it up long enough, yeah - I could definitely see her in charge and if you're in her platoon it ain't a pretty picture!
Jazzy, how come you haven't gotten to NHS yet?
