Oh, Shoot...

...I'm out of bullets (no, not really...it just sounded funny).

We went shooting yesterday, and the gun in the photo was a gift from Brian. Kind of a scary thing to be responsible for, especially for someone who'd never seen a gun 'til moving to Georgia and having one pointed in my face during a robbery. But I'd rather have one and know how to use it than be at the mercy of the bad guys who seem to be increasing in numbers...or boldness. Or both.

Check out the target. Bad guys better watch out. I'm more accurate with a .22 but I'm told that just makes little holes in the bad guys without necessarily stopping them. Both Amanda and Brandon have good aim with the .22 as well. Brian hits whatever he aims for, and shot the crotch out of one target just to prove that point. I should have kept it and hung it in view of the garage windows, just in case any prowlers came nosing around.

Mary, Mary Quite Contrary How Does Your Garden Grow...

With grasshoppers, dogs, aphids and frogs, and an occasional plant in a row:

I was worried about over crowding when I first planted, so there is plenty of empty spaces. What I did was leave plenty of room for Sheba to dig in when the she thinks I'm not looking:

I love these markers, and they are SO appropriate:

I have a couple more snapshots here:

It's Time for Some Campaigning!

Brian sent this to me and I just had to share. As Larry the Cable Guy says, "I don't care who you are, THAT'S funny right there!"

The Robinson Petting Zoo, Pt. 2

Sadly, Sarah the cat passed away a little over a week ago and less than 24 hours after she was in the ground Daniel showed up with Spike. Daniel swore it was a boy because he had um, boy parts. I didn't see any, but I make it a habit not too check too closely between the legs of things with sharp claws. After a trip to the vet, we found out that spike is a healthy eight week old girl. The name stuck.

Twenty Nine and Holding....

And if you wear really, really dark sunglasses or are legally blind you can believe that. But who cares - I got chocolate cake!

This is Daniel's friend Chase hamming it up with Lea Anna for the camera

And Daniel with his other friend Blake. No shortage of hams in this house!

The G Man Jam

These are a few pics from a jam session on July 4th. Too bad the audio clip I took was crackly, cause live they sounded awesome, even though Gary was on a borrowed guitar with a bad fret. They new version of ZZ Top's La Grange: do-do-do do do-do-do-<$@%! fret!>

Beautiful, but...

...not the trip you want to make.

As Amanda mentioned, Brian's father passed away on the 27th. He was only 57. He had COPD like Mom but that alone didn't take his life. Having an intestinal obstruction and putting off seeking medical attention for some three weeks in his already weakened condition did it. Brian said his mom would have let his dad go a couple of days max before she drug him to the doctor - by the hair, if necessary. But unfortunately she passed away about 2.5 years ago.

An upside is that it was absolutely beautiful in Michigan, and I got to see where Brian grew up. The air was so clean there that the clouds had a dimension I've only ever seen aboard an airplane.

We caravaned back to Georgia on the first of July, stopping in Chattanooga to buy the super cool kinds of fireworks you cannot find in GA (probably because they're illegal, but that's another story).

We did not outdo Ryan & Charles' New Year display, but if we didn't one-up the neighbors, we came darn close. It was good to be back home, even if the air was dirty and the temperatures 20 degrees higher. Here are a couple of other pictures from Michigan (Brandon with the biggest Dandelion I've ever seen, and another shot of a cornfield against a beautiful blue sky).

Happy Fourth of July Everybody!

As for me, today has been a lazy day. No barbeques or parties. I just laid down to read my magazine, napped and talked to a friend I from high school that I just got re-aquainted with a few months ago. Yesterday was my fun day. I took the kids out to eat, and saw a movie. We watched the movie Hulk. Hector had to drag me at first but in the end I ended up liking it very much. It was action packed, exciting, and well edited.

I have been doing well-improving and growing by leaps and bounds. I have been able to make alot of friends and attend social events. Thank God! I am now taking three summer computer classes and when they end, I have enough credits to graduate with a general education diploma. (I know I will do well-I already got a B on my first exam) I am however, going to go beyond that and transfer-with a major, since I have been doing so well. I think I am going to choose Child Development for now. I guess I got over that one incident-the one with the five year old kicking and cursing me. Bad experience, but I am now ready to get behind that. I am testing the waters by taking an infant/toddler studies class this Fall at LA Trade Tech ( long story-I couldnt take it at El Camino) I figure I want to start with Babies (little discipline issues) and maybe be a teacher assistant. I dont want to jump head first into being a lead teacher with twelve kids like last time.
Whatever happens I know I will be something-I have Faith in God and ultimate trust that I will be okay.
