Testing 123....

I've finally moved into the 21st century and installed my handy dandy high speed modem that's been sitting around the house all week. No more dial up. Yay! Even the upload speed is killer compared to dial up. This another tres chic photo titled "Joe's Yard". Maybe one day I'll take some photography classes, but until then I have my family to experiment on. Mwahahaha!

Another F***ing Funeral...

Dad died this past Friday (April 28th, 2006) of a Heart Attack.

Obvioulsy, Adrian and I were feeling pretty f****ed up about it, but now that we've gotten over the big shock, we're ok.

I talked to Uncle Kenny, Eban, and Bear...Even Grandpa (Dad's dad)... They all told me that since I'm the oldest I'm going to have to deal with all the decisions concerning his funeral, bills, and what-not.

Sitting in his room right now, it's really hard to believe that he's not gonna be around anymore. He was getting healthier everyday... I was so sure he was gonna be around to drive me crazy for another 20 years, but I was obviously wrong.

I don't know what I'm gonna do... I have to go on home leave from Job Corps, so I can get his deaht certficate and all that legal mumbo-jumbo...

Hope I don't go crazy...

too quiet

Hey, where is everybody? It's been a week!

Live From Goodlettsville

As Ya'll heard, we had a tornado rip through our city two weeks ago. Gary was huddled in the basement with Lea Anna, Daniel and two of our neighbors when it hit. The good thing is that everyone came out with out a scratch on them. Our old house is still standing, but between the foundation damage and all the glass & debris inside, that's about all I can say about it. The van had all but two windows busted out too, so we are down to one car for now. We were lucky though. Just on the other side of the main road about a quarter mile away, several square blocks were completely razed. We have since moved on into a cozy (okay, cramped) apartment. On a brighter note, my computer lives on. The TV and VCR too, but unfortunately the Barney tapes survived. Of course just a couple of hours after it hit there were a bunch of idiots that came out of the woodwork and were walking up and down the street taking photos. Gee, if they were that morbid why didn't they go up the road to Gallatin and film the dead victims too while they were at it?! What is odd is how it ripped up every tree on the property, downed all the phone & power lines, yet my flimsy plastic chairs were still sitting virtually undisturbed on the front porch.

Here's another interesting thing that popped up in the aftermath -

Gary and I kept getting mail (what looked like collection letters, but we never cared about it enough to actually open them up) for this guy Clarence Brown ever since we moved into the house on Depot St. One day last June, Gary steps outside the house to find it surrounded by Metro's finest who were looking for - you guessed it - Clarence Brown. He rented the house before we did and apparently he was pawning stolen merchandise using his old address that of course was our current address at that time. It did not take too long for Gary to clear things up and for the police to go on their way. So anyway, Saturday afternoon while we were at the old place packing, phone service was finally restored. Our first phone call in a week was a collection agency looking for Clarence-Freaking-Brown! He was using our phone number too! I think when things settle down I will change our phone number too. We also get numerous calls for Domino's Pizza.

Petition to Graduate denied!

What a bummer! It seems even though I went through the counselors office to pick the necessary classes to graduate, I am missing one class! I guess the counselor was wrong, so I will take that extra class in the fall and graduate in the spring, probably.Who knows when I will be finished. But I will keep everyone posted.

Concert Hopper

A couple weeks ago, I got to see a band called The 69 Eyes in concert... It was SOOOO awesome! I got meet the guitarist and I got loads of pictures and souvenirs. I also met this really cool chic named Halley. (We still talk on MySpace.) I had such a good time, I found myself wanting to go to another concert.

The next weekend I got tickets to see a band called My Ruin in concert. (Now, I had never heard of them...I just got tickets and hoped they wouldn't suck!) The show was F***IN AWSOME!!! Two other bands there, Orcus and Neurobox, kicked a**. During Neurobot, Orcus, and My Ruin's performance there was a mosh pit and it was GREAT. The only chics in there were me and one other girl... We bumped into each other a couple times, and each time we did we laughed our a**es off. I even fell in the pit while Orcus was playing. (I landed pretty hard on my knees and they're STILL a bit sensitive.) I ended up getting a lot of nifty souvenirs and autographs from the show and Marina (the girl who went with me) and I met some really cool dudes and made friends.

I think I'm addicted to concerts now... I haven't been able to stop thinking about going! Orcus is playing at the Knitting Factory Monday night, and I can't wait to see them play again. (Though I'll be sure to wear better pants since last time I fell in the pit was because my pants were too big and kept getting stepped on!) A band called Otep is playing at The Whiskey A Go Go that Thursday as well, and I'm gonna try to see that.

If I go, I'll try not to get myslef injured too bad...

!!!ENJOY PICTURES, FAMILY!!!

Lisa & Co. Safe, But...

Wow. I just got off the phone with Lisa, who called to let me know that she and Gary and the kids were okay, but that a tornado had just trashed their house. I'm still shaking.

I had to ask if she had renters' insurance...it's just the practical older sister in me. Unfortunately, they do not : (

I'll let Lisa fill you all in on the details when she gets back online. She said she thought her computer might have survived!

Thou Shalt Not Kill

But there is no commandment saying that I can't drop off a couple of inlaws a state or two west of us and leave them there, now is there? My Brother and Sister In Law are staying with us for a few days because their van majorly croaked and the logisitics didn't work out driving my SIL to work and back with me also having to be at work and Daniel back and forth to school while Gary is playing mechanic. I have bitten my tongue at all their little quirks, including the almost empty beer cans in the kitchen trash that stink to high heaven and other little small but extremely annoying things. She marred my beloved perfectly seasoned cast iron skillet and now it's all rusty. OFF WITH HER HEAD!

Wedding announcement

David and Liubinka

In case you haven't heard, David married his girlfriend, Liubinka, Thursday. Here is a picture of the two after the ceremony.

Scorched Earth

After the Burn

Yesterday afternoon my next door neighbor set fire to his front lawn.

Amanda had come over earlier and we'd gone out to eat, and returning home to the sight of the yard adjacent to mine - meer feet from my house - completely engulfed in flames was a bit disconcerting. I wasn't completely freaked out because the homeowners' association recently sent around a flyer suggesting burning as a way to get rid of the dead winter grass and help the new growth along. But Amanda, on seeing the flaming lawn, exclaimed "WHAT the HELL?????"

I must say, a black lawn has a rather interesting look. And does matche the trim on my neighbor's house. However, there's something about growing up near an area plagued by wildfires that makes me feel there's something fundamentally wrong with intentionally setting fire to your property.

I'll stick with my brown Bermuda for now, thank you.
