My Little Home Wreckers

Here's the latest ones of my little hams. I'll probably never be able catch them in a serious pose, but they are cute enough to get away with it.

Dover Pics

We had dinner here on South Street in Philly After Sunday's race, at Jon's Bar & Grille - former home of Larry Fine of the Three Stooges.

Our car is the third one on the left. We ended up finishing 10th that day. Unfortunately this is the best I could do with a disposable camera. I tried so hard to talk anyone who would stand still long enough to listen (even our driver) to let me do a 360 just once before the race, or to just let me climb in and rev the engine once. Obviously they never entertained that notion even for a second - since I am still living and not smashed into the nearest concrete barrier. Oh, but what a ride it would have been!

This is a pic of one of the bathroom trailers at the race. The sign on the side of it caught my eye. No, I haven't outgrown potty humor yet.

We all FALL Down

YAY! I found a site on how to make Dread Falls (as shown in the collage above)!!!

I found the instructions at a website called http://www.angrycaninelovestick.org/.

It turns out that the best and preferred method of making Dread Falls is called back-combing. Instead of twisting it, then messing it up like I did, this method calls for you to mess it up (aka "backcombing), twist it, the mess it up a little more.

All in all, you get the same results, but it ends up looking better when you backcomb it... It's also a lot quicker!

The site had A LOT of information. It tells how to do multiple colors, different ways to make and attatch the dreads, etc.

I was sure to copy and print everything I found.

I can't wait to get started... I might even leave my hair out of braids for awhile.

All I need is a couple pairs of nifty Cyber Goggles to wear with the Dread Falls, like these!!!

David's B-Day Weekend in Killeen, TX

David and his buddy Chris mug for the camera. Leya gets in on the action whenever a camera's around!

Liubinka got David with the old "cake-in-the-face" trick. David got her back ; )

We all went to Dave & Busters on Saturday night. Left to right: Jordan, Liubinka, David, Julian, assorted strangers.

The Fort Hood liason officer took our picture at the Killeen airport before we headed back to Atlanta. David will head toward Kuwait within the next week or two, then Iraq a week after that.

I'm Dover Bound

Guess where I'll be this weekend?
http://www.nascar.com/races/tracks/dov/index.html#
There is some unwritten law that if you live in the south you must attend at least one Nascar race during your lifetime, and since my work sponsors a car Sunday I'll be working our hospitality booth and blessing Nascar fans with my awesome yet humble personality. And of course attending the race afterwards. I've never been to Delaware before. Sounds to me like no better time to visit than the present - room, board, and cable TV included. Woo Hoo!!!

Red Neck Fun Continued

As a side note to Teresa's earlier post "Shooting Guns and Other Redneck Fun", I found out why Daniel has been bugging me to let him join boy scouts. They get to shoot BB guns there. I am in no way opposed to gun ownership, rather I am opposed to Daniel owning a gun - even if it just shoots BBs. If that were to happen it really would be a case of "there goes the neighborhood".
Maybe I'll sign him up for Karate instead.

"GARGOYLE" (aka Art Crud)

THIS is "Word Art." It involves making words into images...and what-not. (My teacher explained it better.)

I'd have posted something sooner, but there are "Pre-Projects" that we (the students) have to do BEFORE we can do the ACTUAL PROJECT. (It's kind of retarded, but I'm sure it's just the teacher's way of making sure we know what we're doing... Blah...)

This (as you can all see) is the word "GARGOYLE."

I'm so FUCKING artistic!!!

"DEATH"

I'm STILL fucking artistic!!!

*Sorry if they come out so small... The originals were too big to fit on the page.*

Yet Another Celebrity Neighbor

Y'all, I kid you not: I have been chatting with Richard Thomas regularly while I'm out walking the dogs in the evening and I didn't even realize it. He didn't look much like old John Boy, but I figured a lot of time had passed since The Waltons.

Richard is 78 now. Unfortunately, he is undergoing treatment for lung cancer. He says he thinks they caught it early enough...as he continues to puff on his cigarette. He assures me it's only his third of the day. Sad.

For those keeping track, and in case the Enquirer wants to come stake out my neighborhood, Bobby Brown, Prince and - I just learned - Richard Thomas live in West River Place!

Habla Espanol?

I had my second Spanish class today. My Spanish has already improved just a wee bit. I only mildly suck now, as opposed to totally sucking a week ago. It's all starting to come back to me, but too bad it's mostly insults. Gary is not really helping either. I was trying to study earlier and he kept reciting some choice phrases that I hadn't even heard of. It'll come in handy while I'm driving around town though, especially since our immigrant population has increased -- along with the amount of idiotic drivers. Amazingly there are worse people on the road than an SUV driving soccer mom on her cell phone.

Weasel Fun

Not too much going on in Texas... I'm wrapping up my leave; I have to sign back in before midnight tonight. The kids have been doing great in school... their first progress report came out last week and Leya is getting all A's and the boys both have all A's except a B in reading. The Kirby Vacuum Salesmen were in town on Tuesday and they came in and cleaned our living room. At the end of the night, I was sold on the Kirby Sentria. Even if you don't want to buy a Kirby, you should go to their website and set-up an in-home demonstration. The weasels are doing good, too... they're loving their new mansion. Our oscars, which are about 7" long now, have eaten everything else in our aquarium. I've started feeding them beefhearts, so hopefully they'll grow some more before I leave. Other than that, it's been pretty boring around here. Here's some proof:

Here's Oliver, trying to steal Tiny's ear and hide it underneath the bed

This is the four-story ferret mansion I built for the carpet sharks

Bandit is posing on my boot, and that white blur between my legs is Oliver

Oliver and Bandit, getting their bath yesterday... Emma is out of the frame, but she was just as miserable

Emma is checking out the new Kirby... I don't know if I can vacuum them with this one... might be too powerful.

shootin' guns and other redneck fun

Since it's been a while since I've posted, I figured it's about time.
I went up for a promotion at Ruby Tuesday and didn't get it because I failed a personality test I had to take online. It was totally bogus, and had 30 minutes of conflicting questions specifically designed to confuse and annoy. This really sucks because, after 5 glorious years of working my butt off for $2.88 an hour (and whatever tips cheapskates think I deserve), and passing up the offer for promotion twice (before they implemented the stupid online testing), I finally decided I was ready and went for it. Oh well, at least I still have my second job, and we're getting into our busy season, so hopefully money will get better.
The good news is that I will be taking a small vacation with my mummy to go see David in Texas before he ships out to Kuwait next month. I will be broke because of it, but I don't even care because I need a break.
Oh, also, Steve and I took Mom shooting last weekend, and she did really good. Especially considering the fact that she had never shot before. She was frustrated because it was hard to see if you hit the target with the .22 because the bullets are so small. She shot the SKS and liked it more because the bullets are bigger and it's easier to see the holes they leave. Scary, huh? Haha.
Well, I'm gonna go so I can watch the rest of Pee Wee's Playhouse before I have to go to bed :)
